"I Miss you, and Have Taken to Walking With my Camera”

Street Photography 2021-2024
by Andrew Mills

Thirty A3 prints of digitalised analogue film.

Andrew Mills uses vintage 35 and 120mm film cameras to document quotidien, performative, urban experiences witnessed when walking  through Leeds City Centre.

These images, inspired by the photographers Vivian Maier, and Diane Arbus were shot on, and around Leeds Briggate between 2021 and 2024.

Andrew uses various cameras, including a 1940s Kodak Box Brownie, 1979 Olympus OM1, 1960 Leica M2, and  a1956 Rolleiflex 2.8e.

All photographs were shot on Ilford HP5+ and developed in a home-made, kitchen-based, dark-room.

These black and white film images were  digitalised and  then colourised by Aito create a veneer of noise between the real-time vibrancy ofcreative street-performance and what you, the viewer, see here in this bar.

With thanks to The North Bar, and Imo Dunkley, for  their support with curation of this project.
